Diamond Yatzy: Instructions

How to play

Yatzy is a game for two opposing players. Any player is free to set up a game, or to join a game that has already been set up by another player. To join a game that has already been set up simply click on the “Play” button shown in yellow next to the game. To set up a new game click “New Game”. A small window will open, which will allow you to choose the maximum skill level of your opponent by using a sliding scale. The game can then begin.

Once a player has been shown a collection of jewels, he/she can either opt to see a new collection, or put one or more of the jewels from this collection into the tray provided. If the player wishes to keep one or more jewels from a collection, this can be done by either dragging the jewels into the tray whilst holding the mouse button then letting go, or by double clicking on the desired jewels.

After each round the player must enter the value of the selected jewels into the shopping list. The possible entries are highlighted in a different colour. The player need only click on the fields for the values to be entered. It is also possible for the player to void the fields in the shopping list if he or she is not happy with the result. To do this, the player must click on the empty field in the shopping list, whereupon a red X shall appear.

Diamond Yatzy is played as a duel. The following applies:

- Both players have the same starting position, and receive the same jewels as each other during the round.
- The players need not play at the same time – they can play consecutively.
- Once a player has completed his/her own game, he/she may either watch the opponent play, leave the game, or start another.
- Other players can be invited directly, but opening a private table is not possible.

Rules

This is a game for two players. Within a single round, the players are shown 3 collections of 5 jewels each. The task of the player is to either collect as many jewels of the same colour as possible, or put together specific jewel combinations. These combinations (such as Straight, Full House, Yatzy) are worth more for the player in the shopping list.

The objective of the game is to reach the highest possible value in the shopping list. At the latest, players must enter a value into the shopping list following the third showing of jewels. After seeing each collection, the player is free to decide which jewels he/she would like to keep, and which not. The player can put the jewels, which he/she would like to keep, in the tray provided. The winner is the player, who combines the jewels most effectively to achieve the highest value in shopping list at the end of the game.

During the game a player may replace a jewel on three occasions by playing the joker. The “Joker” button appears after the third showing of jewels in each round. The number of remaining jokers is shown in brackets, e.g.: “Joker (3)”. By clicking on this button, the player can replace one jewel by clicking on it as many times as he/she wishes until the desired colour appears, e.g.: to make a Yatzy out of a Four of a Kind. At the end of the round the results can be entered as usual. NOTE: Only one joker may be used per round.
